The biggest source of chlorine exposure in most homes isn't drinking water. It's the shower. New research found chlorine in tap water creates byproducts linked to 33% higher bladder cancer risk, and showering is the daily route most people never audit. When chlorine reacts with organic matter in water, it forms disinfection byproducts called trihalomethanes. The most studied one, chloroform, is classified as a probable carcinogen. People assume the danger is only in what they drink. The science says otherwise. Showering exposes the body through three routes at once. Inhalation of vaporized chloroform from hot water. Skin absorption across the largest organ in the body. Mucous membrane exposure in the eyes and respiratory tract. Chloroform levels in the bloodstream spike 34x during a 10-minute shower (PMID:14626901). Most fixes don't address the chlorine problem. Carbon-only filters reduce taste but pass disinfection byproducts through. Cheap shower filters target chlorine but miss chloramines, fluoride, and heavy metals. Drinking filtered water doesn't help when the bathroom is the bigger exposure source. The bladder is the organ that filters everything the body absorbs. ~10% of bladder cancers are now linked to disinfection byproducts in tap water. The exposure is daily, cumulative, and dose-dependent. PRIMALS Filtered Showerhead is built around 15-stage filtration that removes chlorine, fluoride, chloramines, heavy metals, and disinfection byproducts before water touch
