"Chronic congestion" is not real, it's the biggest lie in ENT medicine, and it's sending thousands into unnecessary surgery. Let me guess how this went down: You got a CT scan, the doctor looked at it for all of 10 seconds… then points at a spot on the image and says: "See that? Chronic inflammation. Nasal passages completely blocked." Then he probably mentioned something about "a deviated septum" or "polyps..." And finished with: "Surgery's really your only option here." Sound familiar? Here's what that doctor DIDN'T tell you: "Chronic congestion" is an exaggerated, catch-all term that gets slapped on ALL stages of nasal inflammation. It doesn't mean you have ZERO airflow. It means your nasal tissue is inflamed to some degree. Could be 90% swollen. Could be 30%. Doesn't matter. They call it all the same thing. Because "chronic congestion" sounds permanent. And hopeless patients don't ask questions. And here's the crazy part… If you were TRULY chronically blocked? You wouldn't even be able to breathe lying down. Zero airflow means ZERO oxygen. Which means every breath would feel like someone's choking you. You'd be in the ER, gasping for air. So if you CAN breathe... if you CAN sleep... if you CAN move around without suffocating... you still have airflow. What's ACTUALLY happening is chronic inflammation and tissue swelling... making it FEEL like your nose is completely sealed. But that's not structural blockage. That's your body screaming for help.
